Frenkel, Ziv

Geboren 1962 in Beit-Alfa, Israel war Ziv Frenkel 1988-95 Mitglied der Kibbutz Dance Company unter der künstlerischen Leitung von Yehudit Arnon. Anschließend arbeitete er als Ensemblemitglied 1995-1999 am Bremer Tanztheater unter Susanne Linke. Von 1999-2008 arbeitete er im choreografisches Theater von Johann Kresnik am Volksbühne Berlin und der Theater Bonn. 1996 war er Mitgründer des steptext dance project in Bremen. Seit 2010 verbindet ihn eine Zusammenarbeit mit der Choreographin und Regisseurin Rosamund Gilmore unter anderem im Ring der Nibelungen an der Oper Leipzig. Darüberhinaus inszeniert Ziv Frenkel eigene choreographische Werke. Von besonderer Bedeutung fur seine künstlerische Arbeit sind langjährige Zusammenarbeiten mit KünstlerInnen unterschiedlicher Disziplinen. Kunstlerische Zusammenarbeit u.A. mit: den ChoreographInnen Valenti Rocamora i Tora, Yoshiko Waki (bodytalk Munster), Helge Letonja (steptext dance project Bremen), Julia Keren Turbahn, Jo Parkes (Feld Theater), der Tanzerinnen Anne Minetti, der Komponistin Stepha Schweiger, dem Sound Designer Florian Tippe, den Regisseuren Sebastian Bauer, Dr. Frank M. Raddatz (Theater des Anthropozän), dem Künstler Christoph Dahlhausen, den Fotographen Axel Largo und Pedro Malinowski. Seit 2022 ist Ziv Frenkel Mitglied des Dance On Ensembles.

Born in Beit-Alfa, Israel, in 1962, Ziv Frenkel was a member of the Kibbutz Dance Company under the artistic direction of Yehudit Arnon from 1988 to 1995. He then joined the ensemble of the Bremer Tanztheater under Susanne Linke, where he remained until 1999. From 1999-2008 he was part of Johann Kresnik’s ‘choreographic theatre’ at the Volksbühne Berlin and the Theater Bonn. In 1996, he co-founded steptext dance project in Bremen. He has been a collaborator of the choreographer and director Rosamund Gilmore since 2010, working with her on projects including Wagner’s Ring Cycle at the Leipzig Opera. Ziv Frenkel also creates his own choreographic works. Of particular importance for his artistic approach are his longstanding collaborations with artists from various disciplines. Collaborators include the chorographers Valenti Rocamora i Tora, Yoshiko Waki (bodytalk Munster), Helge Letonja (steptext dance project Bremen), Julia Keren Turbahn, Jo Parkes (Feld Theater), the dancer Anne Minetti, the composer Stepha Schweiger, sound designer Florian Tippe, the directors Sebastian Bauer, Dr. Frank M.
